With this blog I switch to an informational format of what I find interesting in the world of programming and development. Articles or code snippets that I learn from or code bits I use in my real job or side projects
In my real job I am a Senior Application Developer for a public company. I develop in a wide range of technologies, platforms and languages. However my primary language is .Net.
Recently I completed a Single Page Application to allow the company users to search thousands of documents. The front end was created in .Net with Jquery calling a Web API backend.
I know that Jquery has fallen out of favor with the cool kids but for this project it work really great. Users were able to enter their search data and using the standard Jquery Ajax function the Web API returned standard JSON in the chunks needed. I wrote a easy paging function to work with a Stored Procedure and search speed was excellent. The only plugin I used was a sort plugin for Jquery on a standard HTML table with JSON data and it worked great.
Remember the application determines your tools not fit your application to fit your tools.
